| Four Florida Democrats: Anti-Military Hospital? by Robert F. Sawallesh 24 Aug 2004 Website: www.pentagonmaverick.com Florida's Primary is on August 31st. See http://election.dos.state.fl.us/index.html. Four Democratic candidates are campaigning for the Congressional seat of US Senator Bob Graham who is retiring. On Senator Bob Graham's home page at http://graham.senate.gov/ there are two comments on VA hospitals. Nothing on the planned demolition of the USAF military hospital at MacDill AFB in Tampa or its replacement with only a clinic. The four Democrats campaigning are Betty Castor, Peter Deutsch, Bernard E. Klien and Alex Penelas. Their home page web sites are at http://www.bettynet.com/site/PageServer, http://www.deutsch2004.org/home/index.shtml, http://www.kleinforsenator.com/ and http://www.alexpenelas2004.com/ihealth.htm. Could find nothing on the candidates web sites on the MacDill AFB hospital issue. Florida is the number two state in the union when it comes to the highest population of military retirees and military widows/widowers. On August 31st the world will be watching the Florida Primary to see if Florida has learned to count votes. Has the Butterfly Ballot mentality flown away? No doubt Florida's Supervisors of Elections will have butterflies in their stomachs as the voting count starts on August 31st. Just what are the election supervisors saying behind "closed doors?" Go to the F.S.A.S.E. web site at http://colliervotes.com/pdf/FSASE%20Issue%20paper.pdf. If you live in Florida see you at the voting precinct on August 31st. Hopefully, by then, the four above Democratic candidates will be able to find MacDill AFB and visit the base hospital.
